  38.     Be sure you have Rexx: assigned to some drawers. Make sure you have
  39.     rexxarp.library in LIBS: - ifftoDCTV & makeanim in C:. Put ABC.rexx
  40.     in REXX:, rename it to f1.adpro or f2.adpro (or any other function
  41.     keys that are available) so you can assign this script to one of the
  42.     function key in TAD.

  44.     Put accompanying ABCWindow.IFF in some drawer, preferably in TAD
  45.     drawer. ABCWindow.IFF is just a IFF file that is use to enhance my
  46.     interface cosmetically. If you have no space to put this file, you
  47.     may do without it. *Using any text editor, look at *LINE 74*, the
  48.     line looks like this:

  52.     Change the directory 'DH0:ABCWindow.IFF' to designated directory
  53.     where you decided to put ABCWindow.IFF file.

  58.     Do not erase apostrophy (') at beginning and at end.

  60.     You can also do without this picture or replace it with yours if you

  72.     ABC is a simple AREXX script that works in conjuction with TAD. It
  73.     can load practically any files (that are supported by TAD) and will
  74.     batch convert it to IFF24/DCTV/JPEG/HAM/TIFF/TARGA automatically.
  75.     To use TIFF & TARGA, you will need an extra loader/saver that is
  76.     released seperate from ASDG. ABC also has some few options you can
  77.     choose such as animation, scale, define pixel aspect, dither, 256,
  78.     & Firecracker output that will be operated during the conversion.

  80.     Since I am very novice programmer, I had to rely on some Arexx Script
  81.     thats been released on BBS or on publication. Basically, my script is
  82.     a summary of all seperate scripts available for TAD, all in one.

  84.     Sorry if I had rip someone off by copying their script. I have no
  85.     intension of making money out of this, and anybody is free to alter it
  86.     on their own. SO, ABC is a Freeware. Please do send back response.

  102.  
  103.     Have TAD run on the machine, if you have assign the script to function
  104.     key, press it. ABC should start automatically.
  105.  
  106.     From shell:
  107.  
  108.     Have TAD run on the machine, open SHELL, type in rx REXX:ABC.rexx .
  109.     ABC should start automatically.

  111.     If ABC does not run:
  112.  
  113.     *TAD has to run before ABC.
  114.     *Make sure Installation is done correctly
  115.     *Check your memory
  116.     *Make sure ABCWindow.IFF is assigned correctly

  120.     How to use ABC:
  121.  
  122.     ABC can load 4 types of file templates. Those four types are:
  123.  
  124.     Imagine   -> pic.0001 pic.0002 and so on (basename has to be pic.)
  125.     LightWave -> ***000 ***001 and so on (basename (*) could be anything)
  126.     VistaPro  -> ***00000 ***00001       (basename could be anything)
  127.     Real3D    -> ***0 ***1 ***2          (basename could be anything)

  129.     Image file does not neccessary have to come from each softwares, ABC
  130.     is simply using these template (ex. pic.0001 or test001 or test00000)
  131.     to batch load the files in to TAD. Image file also does not have to be
  132.     IFF file, it could be JPEG, TARGA, or any other file format that can
  133.     be loaded with TAD's Universal Loader.

  136.     To use ABC, simply click on the buttons to your preference from left
  137.     to right (1->3).  When the final saving format is chosen, the screen
  138.     will flip back to TAD to make its final settings.
  139.  
  140.     More than one Option can be choosed, although some may not work in
  141.     conjunction with the saving file format.
  142.  
  143.     Ex. Only DCTV can be animated.
  144.     Ex. 24bit file format cannot be dithered
  145.  
  146.     PIXASP = Change Pixel Aspect
  147.     LOCKP  = Lock Palette (Used only with HAM & TIFF)
  148.     256    = 256 Color used in TIFF
  149.     FC24   = Displays output on FireCracker 24
  150.  
  151.     All restrictions are self explanatory & some what logical, so
  152.     please experiment it.

  156.     * CAUTIONS *
  157.  
  158.     There are several wierd flaws in this program... I would like to fix
  159.     it in the future.
  160.  
  161.     * Abort will not work when saving.  This is a safety feature, so you
  162.        will not accidently write over your original file.
  163.  
  164.     * Animation option can be only used if there are more than 10 Frames
  165.       to process.
  166.  
  167.     * HAM animation does not work. I tried several ways, but makeanim seems
  168.       to alter HAM pallete when put together as animation. So the HAM &
  169.       ANIM combination will not work together.
  170.  
  171.     * ifftoDCTV is used instead of TAD's own dctv operator.  DCTV operator
  172.       in TAD also seem not to work along with makeanim. Since I definitely
  173.       needed this option to work, I use ifftoDCTV instead of it.
  174.  
  175.       Pros - for using ifftoDCTV-> its faster
  176.        Cons - NO Abort!
  177.  
  178.       If you do not bypass it, TAD will save once to designated directory
  179.       as IFF24 image, ifftoDCTV will later convert it to DCTV and delete
  180.       IFF24 image. <-Sorry for DISK Fragmentation.... This is done because
  181.       Image can then be scaled or pixel aspect can be altered.
  182.  
  183.     * Avoid using RAM: for Saving directory, for it will eat up the memory
  184.       needed by TAD. Remember TAD is a memory hog...
  185.  
  186.     * I use A3000 with 16 meg RAM to test this program, since I have not
  187.       tested in on other machines, I have no idea if it works or not.
  188.        please inform me of any complications.

  190.     * If any damage had been made by this program, I will not be
  191.       responsible for it.  Use it at your own risk.

  195.     TIPS:
  196.  
  197.     Some of the settings that you have on TAD will be directly carried on
  198.     thru Batch Conversion.
  199.  
  200.     Ex. Color Balannce (make everything TINTED to Blue.)
  201.     Ex. TIFF LZW compression option.
  202.         If you have selected .LZW option with some files, .LZW will
  203.         remain selected thru out the Batch conversion.
  204.  
  205.     Ex. JPEG Quality control
  206.         In a same way explained above, whatever selected will be used
  207.         to batch convert.
  208.  
  209.     Ex. 256 is used for TIFF mainly.

  214.         3 Sierra
  215.         4 Jarvis

  227.         There is a great tutorial on Amazing Amiga April/92 about
  228.         a pixel aspect, written by Merril Callaway. Please read it
  229.         for more information.

  231.     Ex. Some Options are automatically canceled depending on the
  232.          Saving File Format.  I tried to be logical for the selection,
  233.         so please experiment the combination.
